Now, that the economy seems to be getting better, companies will be razor focused on growth. HR has been focused on keeping their companies productive and profitable through the recession. Now, it’s time for HR to raise its game, assisting their companies while in growth mode. HR has been delivering on the “business partner” model for over a decade. It’s time to discuss what leaders expect from HR today. It’s no longer good enough to partner with our leadership team; it’s about influencing and leading that team towards better business results. The panel members will discuss their individual journeys in becoming BUSINESS LEADERS in their respective organizations. Cathy Missildine has extensive experience in many areas of strategic human resources management. She has worked closely with executives in the areas of performance, productivity, retention, training, staffing and strategic implementation. Her experience in operations and sales management in the technical, insurance and hospitality industries has given her a broad understanding of business issues and a solid foundation for building performance-enhancing systems that support the business. Some of Cathy’s most recent projects focused on performance-management redesign, change management, HR Strategy and Metrics creation, workforce planning and strategic planning. In May 1997, Cathy and her business partner Barbara Hughes started their own consulting firm, Intellectual Capital Consulting (ICC), specializing in “Profitability Through Human Capital”. Cathy received her MBA from Kennesaw State college and is currently is a professor at Kennesaw State and Emory Universities.
Nancy Geraghty is presently the Global Vice President Human Resources for Case-Mate Inc. Case-Mate is a global leader in creating and designing fashion-forward accessories that protect, adorn and enhance mobile devices. Prior to this role she was the Vice President of General Affairs/Human Resources for Panasonic Corporation and had her own consulting business focusing on strategic human resources. Clients included companies such as Kimberly Clark. She has also held HR leadership positions at Mead-Westvaco, and the Harris Corporation. Her experience includes global expansion, M&A, shutdowns, startups, turnarounds, union campaigns, and other large-scale change efforts.
Steve Gillenwater is responsible for the management of the human capital for the largest division of Comcast with approximately 31,000 employees. Responsible for dual supervision of four Regional Vice Presidents of HR and direct reporting relationship of four additional Vice Presidents of HR leading COEs and Business Process Excellence (BPE). Work as a strategic partner to orient and train all levels of staff on the interpretation and administration of Human Resources policies including recruitment, performance management, EEO, employee development and all related policies in accordance with division, corporate and regional guidelines.
Virginia Means brings over two decades of senior Human Capital leadership and consulting experience on behalf of global and domestic organizations. She aligns people solutions with business strategy by evaluating, designing, and implementing optimal Human Resource partnerships and service delivery models. She serves on the Board of the Atlanta Chapter of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-Atlanta), has received the national Pinnacle Award for innovation and was nominated for the Wall Street Journal's "Women to Watch." She has helped companies achieve placement on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For, Top 100 Training Organizations, and Working Woman's Top 100, as well as receive the Catalyst Award for the advancement and development of women.
