SHRM-Atlanta Earns 2007 SHRM Pinnacle Award |
|
SHRM-ATLANTA has received a 2007 Pinnacle Award from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for excellence in chapter, professional and membership activities. The Pinnacle is the most prestigious chapter award offered by SHRM, which represents more than 225,000 human resource (HR) professionals around the world. In 2007, only eight of the more than 575 SHRM chapters nationwide were selected for this annual award, which recognizes outstanding programs that demonstrate excellence in the human resource profession. The Pinnacle Awards were established in 1991. SHRM-ATLANTA received this honor because of our membership growth initiative encompassing new outreach efforts, increased member value, and more resources dedicated to better serve the chapter.
SHRM-Atlanta saw record success in 2007 as membership grew from 1,630 to over 2,300 members. The first critical step in achieving and sustaining this growth is to fulfill our mission and purpose by providing professional development, networking forums, knowledge transfer channels, certification opportunities and other services to as many HR professionals as possible. Today, HR professionals need to demonstrate new skills and competencies. Those who aspire to leadership roles will have to become more strategic, proactive and involved in the overall business of their employer. SHRM-Atlanta has embraced the challenge to bridge the gap between the HR professional of today and the HR professional who will be in demand tomorrow.
During 2007 SHRM-Atlanta launched new member benefits including free (to members) PEG workshops, online webinars, and other special events. We added more programming approved for strategic credits, more opportunities to participate in added activities and to volunteer.
Tom Darrow, 2006-2007 SHRM-Atlanta President, is shown here accepting the award on behalf of the chapter. The award was presented at a luncheon on November 16 in Washington, D.C., during the SHRM Leadership Conference.
“SHRM-Atlanta exemplifies the best that the field of human resources has to offer,” said SHRM President and CEO Susan R. Meisinger, SPHR. “This award recognizes the high quality of this chapter’s leadership, and it demonstrates their success in helping to advance and elevate the strategic role of the HR profession.”
“Today’s HR professionals continue to raise the bar in successful human capital management,” said Mike Martone, chief operating officer, ADP. “As an organization that partners with thousands of HR professionals, we applaud the chapters and state councils honored today for their ability to execute programs that contribute to advancing the HR profession. ADP is proud to once again sponsor this prestigious SHRM award, which acknowledges outstanding industry leadership.”
A representative from ADP will be on hand at the December 12th Chapter Meeting to make a formal presentation to the chapter. We encourage all members to attend and be part of this exciting presentation. Click here to register today!
"On behalf of the now 2300 members of SHRM-Atlanta, I’d like to thank you for recognizing our accomplishments with this honor. The credit for this accomplishment goes to Deleise Lindsay, our EVP of Membership, and her team and Mary Lynn Miller, our Executive Director and her team at Meeting Expectations, our association management company.
We’re most excited about receiving this award today because this growth in membership in Atlanta means that 700 more HR professionals have embraced the HR profession by engaging with their professional organization…SHRM and SHRM-Atlanta.
YOU are SHRM! I am SHRM! Now…THEY are SHRM!"
