About Us

From the President of SHRM-Atlanta
Elizabeth Wysong, SPHR

It is such a pleasure and privilege to serve as your SHRM-Atlanta President in 2010!  We have so many top-quality programs and activities in store for you.  A wonderful group of volunteer leaders are each heading up an area of chapter operations to ensure that we continue to offer robust member benefits and top quality programming.  I encourage you to take a quick look at our "About Us" webpage and see your 2010 BOD and Officers.

Your leadership team's primary strategic goal for 2010 is to increase the retention of members to record numbers.  We will focus our attention on areas you told us you value most: meeting and networking with other HR professionals, expanding your HR knowledge, professional development and assistance for those in job transition. We will tackle many key initiatives this year focused on retaining and growing our membership such as:  improve the volunteer experience, strengthen our ambassador program, improve on-boarding of new members, increase diversity of our membership, and continue to support members in job transition.

Another way to retain members is by providing high-quality programming.  As part of that effort, you have probably seen many communications about our new HR Leadership Academy.  SHRM-Atlanta is thrilled to partner with UGA Terry College of Business as we launch this exciting new offering.  During 2010, we will review our entire programming portfolio to ensure delivery of diverse, cost-efficient content that meets the needs of HR practitioners at various stages in their careers.  We also recently restructured our Certification Prep Course based on your feedback.  We are now offering an expanded 11-week course taught by professional instructors.

During this year, we expect to launch an improved marketing/PR function for SHRM-Atlanta with crisp member value statements.  We plan to increase branding both internally and externally throughout the Atlanta community.  As many of your companies are doing, SHRM-Atlanta will also focus on operational excellence by formalizing more of our processes, documenting our procedures, and streamlining to be more efficient.

While your volunteer leadership and staff are working very hard to keep our products, services, and operations running smoothly, the Board and Officers will be participating in strategic planning for the future.  Much work has already been done to envision very big goals for your chapter, members and companies, and your community.  We expect to clarify this vision at a planning retreat in March and begin putting measurements and milestones around plans.

I hope your interest is piqued, and that you will watch your SHRM-Atlanta communications for more on this subject. If you have thoughts, suggestions, comments or questions, please send them to me directly at president@shrmatlanta.org

Warmly,

Elizabeth K. Wysong, SPHR
