SHRM-Atlanta Events

Chapter Meetings (5) – Afternoon/evening meetings with dedicated time for networking and featuring a keynote speaker.  Networking reception and meal provided.  Typical attendance is 150 to 300.  The December Chapter meeting is a luncheon with no PEG workshops.


SHAPE Awards
- Formerly known as HR Excellence, in 2009 we've added HR Professional of the Year in Large Company Division and Small Company Division as well as HR Department/Team Division Best Practices Award.  One of the Signature Events targeted for Senior Level HR professionals to recognize excellence and innovation in HR programs, practices and activities that add significant value to businesses.  Nominations are accepted in the months leading up to the awards. 


Link with a Leader
– This reception and auction is one of the most enjoyable, high profile, evening events of the year!  It will be an evening of fine food, drinks, socializing, open bar, and live music.  Resource partners bid on time with Senior Executives (usually a C-suite executive and the top HR executive) from some of Atlanta's top companies in both live auction and silent auction formats.  This event will  at the Atlanta History Center.   Typical attendance is 300+.

Spring Assembly – This event is a one-day conference featuring two tracks of educational content.  One track is for strategic management credit while the other track is for general CEU credit. This educational and informative day includes meals and breaks for networking.  Typical attendance is 200.

Annual SHRM-Atlanta HR Conference - Two-day conference that takes place in the fall; features a high profile keynote speakers and 48 concurrent educational sessions.  The conference delivers valuable, relevant HR material - great for those that need continuing education credit for their PHR/SPHR certification.  The event includes a Resource Partner Showcase.  Typical attendance is 850 – 1,000 and is held at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

GEMs (8 GEMs, 5 times per year)- Geographic Emphasis Groups meet in specific areas (North, NE, NW, South, East, Central, Buckhead and Perimeter) spread around Atlanta in order to be convenient to members' work and/or home.  Usually held during the week after work and usually features food, drinks, and a speaker.  Attendance varies from 15 to 40 depending on the location and speaker.


PEGs
(4 PEGs, 4 times per year) - Professional Emphasis Groups meet for an hour prior to each chapter meeting (except in December) to discuss various areas of specialty in and around HR.  These pre-Chapter meeting workshops feature a speaker and/or a panel and are complimentary for SHRM-Atlanta members to attend.


Certification Review Courses
(2) - Review course for the PHR/SPHR certification exams; take place in the Fall and Spring.  Offered for anyone interesting in taking a certification exam, these courses are taught by experienced HR professionals.  There are also opportunities for getting involved with the committee who plans the instruction.

Career Connections (approx. 5) - A group dedicated to supporting those in job search; meet every other month and feature speakers targeted toward those in job transition.

Webinars (approx. 24) - Online educational learning that is free for SHRM-Atlanta members.  You can earn CEU credits without leaving your office/home.

Mayor's Youth Program - A charity event in partnership with former Mayor Shirley Franklin's office to prepare the youth of Atlanta City Schools for workplace internships.
