Sowing Seeds of Engagement...What You Plant, Grows!
Talent Acquisition & Management Content Area
The landscape of today's workplace could be compared to a garden in which there are a variety of "plants" that add, value and variety which create a culture that defines the organization. Looking closer, a gardener may soon discover "weeds" that are distracting and of diminishing value. These "weeds" represent the disengaged employees that we often ignore in the workplace. Recent data on employee engagement by Gallup shows just 30 percent of employees are energized and committed at work. Another 50 percent are effectively neutral. The remaining employees--almost two out of 10--are disengaged and cost companies up to $550 billion per year in lost productivity. These issues present tremendous yet surmountable challenges for organizations. Employees who are positively engaged have higher levels of productivity and profitability, better safety and attendance records and greater retention levels.
