Dr. Sanders was the Vice President of Human Resources for Convergent Media Systems of Sony Electronics in Alpharetta, Georgia with 18 years experience in human resources. He led Convergent to receive the 2001 Georgia Business Ethics Award for being the most ethical organization in the State of Georgia. Thus, he will help human resource leaders examine major forces in the global environment and the impact on business strategies, operations and decision making. This includes the important role of human resources in gaining a strategic position to develop global HR strategies to support the organization's short and long term business goals and corporate values. A special emphasis on developing a global mindset and the intricacies of the global business environment while influencing the organization's vision, values, mission, business goals, objectives, plans and processes will be delivered.

Speaker: Dr. Samuel Sanders, Ph.D., SPHR, Campus College Chair, School of Business, University of Phoenix
Dr. Sam Sanders is the Director of Academic Affairs at University of Phoenix – Atlanta Campus. He began his career with the University of Phoenix in 2008 as an associate instructor when he taught his first graduate level human resources class at the Atlanta Campus. In 2011, he was named “Faculty of the Year” and was hired three months later as the Campus College Chair for the School of Business. On April 1, 2015, he was promoted to Director of Academic Affairs. Dr. Sanders serves as the national spokesperson for University of Phoenix on human resources topics with the media.
Dr. Sanders is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the HR Certification Institute (HRCI), and the Human Capital Institute (HCI). He was instrumental in organizing the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society for the Atlanta Campus recognizing business students for academic excellence, and the student chapter for the Society for Human Resource Management. He also established internships for the Atlanta Campus, allowing the students to obtain work experience in a Fortune 500 company while pursuing their degree. Dr. Sanders is known for facilitating Personal Branding workshops for students and the community.
Prior to joining University of Phoenix, Dr. Sanders was Vice President of Human Resources with Convergent Media Systems of Sony Electronics. He has more than 20 years of experience in human resources. His educational background includes an A.S. in Mathematics from Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a B.S. in Human Resources Management from Brenau University, an M.B.A. in Management and Human Resources Management from the Stetson School of Business and Economics at Mercer University, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in Organizational Leadership and Health Care Administration from Northcentral University. He holds several professional certifications to include Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Strategic Workforce Planner (SWP), and Human Capital Strategist (HCS).
