With the busiest airport in the world, a strong economy, a burgeoning technology scene, and a booming hospitality industry, Atlanta is a dynamic, exciting city for many to call home. But the rapid growth and quick development of the city has also sadly made it fertile ground human trafficking. In fact, the FBI has named Atlanta one of the cities with the highest rate of human trafficking in the country.
Lack of awareness and anti-trafficking protocols can make it difficult for employees and employers to recognize suspicious behavior or take practical steps that discourage trafficking. SHRM-Atlanta is deeply committed to helping Atlanta-based business leaders and HR professionals better understand the issue of human trafficking, the efforts that are being undertaken to end it in our city, and how they can become more involved in eradicating this practice. In fact, we’re dedicating the entire April Chapter Meeting, appropriately titled Atlanta’s Corporate Awakening, to this very issue.
