Executive Derailment:  Can the High Value Key Leader be Put Back on Track?

As an HR Leader, you may have heard the comment, “But the company can’t afford to lose this key leader.” No matter the business environment, research and experience tell us that managers and leaders head toward derailment in alarming numbers.  Whether recently promoted or having tenure in position, they are highly valued for their knowledge and skills, are often top performers, rainmakers, or technical gurus, and the company feels they can’t afford to get rid of them. Unfortunately, they are extremely difficult to work with because of certain behaviors or characteristics.  Even though these behaviors are legal, they pose a high cost to the organization and its culture, their co-workers, their boss, and HR. In this presentation, we will explain why leaders and managers derail, and whether they can be put back on track.  You will also learn:

·         The kinds of behaviors and characteristics that lead to derailment

·         The long term negative impact these behaviors have on an organization

·         Why it is so difficult for the leader to change

·         Steps required to get a leader back on track, and…..

·         If successful, how to get co-workers to change their old perceptions
