WorkSource Atlanta's Youth Summer Employment Program is back! This program focuses on providing youth ages 14-24 with internships with Atlanta businesses. Each spring, in partnership with SHRM-Atlanta, WorkSource Atlanta provides work readiness skills training to prepare the youth for the internship opportunities.
This year, the work readiness training is offered on May 19th from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM for 100 in-school youth. The location is in downtown Atlanta at 818 Pollard Boulevard, SW, Atlanta, GA 30315.
We plan to have about 100 in-school youth attend the work readiness workshops and need 20 volunteers to run a successful event.
There will be multiple 45 minute workshop topics taught concurrently, so SHRM-Atlanta volunteers will have options to be facilitators or mock interviewers. The curriculum is already developed; now we need volunteers to assist in delivering the sessions or to be available for 1:1 mock interviews.
The workshop topics are “The Resume”, “How to Ace the Interview” and “How to Keep A Job”.
Light refreshments will be provided in the morning for volunteers.
**SHRM-Atlanta will be forming a mini-team to help coordinate WorkSource Atlanta efforts for our members. If you are interested in joining the WorkSource Atlanta Committee, please email Karan Ferrell-Rhodes, EVP of Workforce Readiness & Community Volunteerism at firstname.lastname@example.org by April 28th.
Interested volunteers are welcome to contact Patricia Norman, Chair - STEP Forward Program, regarding any questions at 404-580-5167 (cell) or email@example.com. Thank you!
Once you sign-up, a SHRM-Atlanta volunteer member will reach out to confirm whether you would prefer being a facilitator, mock interviewer, or both. The training presentations, mock interview guides, and/or any other necessary details will also be shared at this time.
If you are unable to meet your commitment, please notify us as soon as possible so that coordinators can adjust and plan accordingly. Thank you very much for being part of SHRM-Atlanta!
