Growing Trends in Reducing Employer Healthcare Costs

Employers are constantly looking for ways to curb the upward trend in providing healthcare for their employees. Employers are now turning to more sophisticated strategies and taking advantage of new technology that provides meaningful reductions in healthcare spending. This session will provide an intriguing overview of four emerging trends in employee benefits: Employee Wellness, Transparency, Telemedicine and Self-funding. HR professionals and leaders of any size organization will discover practical tools for reducing healthcare spending while providing additional benefits for their employees.  

Learning Objectives:
• Attendees will learn the key differences between being fully-insured and self-funded
• Attendees will discover the value of Transparency tools and how they can be easily implemented
• Attendees will be introduced to Telemedicine as a way to improve care, reduce costs and improve employee productivity
• Attendees will learn why it’s simply not enough to have wellness activities, but a strategically designed and executed Employee Wellness program.
• Attendees will learn key talking-points to share with the C-Suite on how to reduce the healthcare costs of employees while increasing employee morale and work effectiveness.

Speaker: Jack W. Bruce, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, Director of Marketing, Apollo Healthcare

Jack W. Bruce, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, is the Director of Marketing for Apollo Healthcare where he champions a self-funding option for group health insurance that includes a strong employee wellness engagement. Prior to joining Apollo, Jack served 10 years as the Chief Operating Officer of an Atlanta employee benefits firm where he oversaw operations and all HR functions. Prior to being appointed as the President-Elect of SHRM-Atlanta for 2016, he served the 2,400 member organization for two years as the Executive Vice President of Programming, leading a team effort in providing nearly 100 educational HR sessions each year. Jack is a graduate of Crown College in Minnesota and has a Masters of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary in New York. He holds a Georgia Life and Health License, is Self-Funding Certified and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR & SHRM-SCP). Jack also writes on team building, leadership, HR and wellness via his two blogs, JackInTheTeamBox.com and RavingWellness.com.
