The Future of HR: Delivering Competitive Advantage Through Innovative People Strategies

To thrive in the business environment of the future, the competencies and capabilities of human resources professionals must evolve. Leaders today must know the business, focus strategically, solve business problems and influence change to impact business results and deliver a strong competitive advantage for their organizations.

In this session, Jennifer McClure will define four critical skills today’s HR leaders must develop to fully participate in their organizations and contribute effectively to executing on top priorities in an increasingly complex and global environment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Increase understanding of the business and take a longer term, “big picture” approach to HR in order to participate as a contributing partner in the organization’s strategic planning process.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external partners to deliver products and services that enable the organization to be agile, innovative and responsive to the needs of customers and employees.
  • Use data to develop systems and processes to measure and quantify results in order to gain executive support.


      Jennifer McClure is President of Unbridled Talent, LLC a speaking, training and consulting company providing services to clients in the areas of recruiting/social recruiting, employment branding and leadership/career development.

She is also a popular speaker who is regularly engaged to present at conferences, associations and to HR, recruiting and leadership teams at a variety of organizations – including Fortune 100 clients. Prior to launching Unbridled Talent, Jennifer worked as a Human Resources executive in privately held and Fortune 500 companies and as an Executive Recruiter and Executive Coach partnering with C-level leaders to find, attract, recruit and develop key leadership talent. Global Trends Impacting Business and the Role of the Human Resource Professional

Given the changing marketplace, it is the contemporary and competitive HR professional that is able to identify trends that impact their business’s objectives and strategic goals.  This session is designed to review global and domestic trends that impact businesses in the area of talent, workplace, engagement, reward/recognition and social responsibility.  How do we identify these trends, their impact to our business, and to us as HR professionals. The contemporary HR professional must be able to do this in order to remain relevant to their business.

Learning Objectives:

  • A review of  global trends impacting businesses today and how we as HR professionals analyze those trends and understand the strategic impact they have on our business
  • Identification of  resources HR professionals can use to identify and better understand these trends and their impact
  • Understand the implications data, analytics, HR/business knowledge and competencies have on our ability to understand, respond and anticipate the needs of our business.

      Coretha M. Rushing, GPHR, is Chief Human Resources Officer for Equifax Inc. She was named to this position in May 2006 and has global responsibilities for a Center of Excellence that includes human resources, compensation and benefits, community affairs and special events, and customer and technical training.
Ms. Rushing brings 25 years of human resources experience to Equifax. From 1996 to 2004, she served in several senior HR functions for The Coca-Cola Company, including Senior Vice President of Human Resource, where she led all human resource functions for the global beverage company, from 2000 to 2004. Since leaving Coca-Cola in 2004, Ms. Rushing had been an executive coach and HR consultant with Atlanta-based Cameron Wesley LLC. Prior to joining Coca-Cola, Ms. Rushing was Director, Human Resources for the Midwest Division of Pizza Hut, a division of PepsiCo from 1994 to 1996. From 1983 to 1994, Ms. Rushing worked for IBM Corp. in several human resource management positions. Ms. Rushing began her career as a Recruiter and Corporate Training Specialist with R.H. Macy’s & Co. and Training Director for East River Savings and Loan. A native of Virginia, Ms. Rushing received her bachelor degree in industrial psychology from East Carolina University and holds a master’s in human resources and counseling from George Washington University. She also serves as a director-at-large for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is certified as a Global Professional in Human Resources from SHRM, and is a member of the National Society of Human Resource Management where she chairs the Governance Committee.
