Healthcare Reform: 2014 & Beyond

At the February Chapter meeting, our expert group of panelists will discuss the Affordable Care Act, it’s outlook, and impact for 2014 and beyond. The panelists will provide a historical perspective of the Affordable Care Act and will discuss how the new mandates for 2014 will affect the health of the public and your organization. Some of the topics that will be addressed are the Pay versus play mandate and how this decision will play into recruiting and retaining top talent as well as how it will impact the organization’s bottom line.  We will also hear from the legislative side on what may be looming on the horizon for the Affordable Care Act.  And finally, we will hear how the Affordable Care Act and its’ implementation will impact the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. Nancy Vepraskas serves as the President and Founder of p2excellence, a human capital consulting firm focused on the two differentiators in every business - people and performance. The firm emphasizes a holistic approach to business, creating synergy between operating functions and human resources resulting in stronger business results and sustainable growth. As the past chair of the SHRM-Atlanta board, she led the association in the development and implementation of a strategy focused on building a "Better Atlanta for Business and Careers."  Vepraskas believes that intimate partner violence is a critical business issue. As a volunteer with Partners Against Domestic Violence, she works to ensure that HR leaders have the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with this difficult issue. Vepraskas holds a MBA in Finance from Mercer University, and an MS in Education from Florida State University. She has her Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and is a Certified Compensation Professional.

Camry Blaising is responsible for directing the consulting and sales efforts at Northwestern Benefit Corporation.  In this role she is responsible for providing strategic direction, coaching and oversight of the consulting team, to include consulting, account management, wellness consulting, and reporting & analytics roles.   Camry was promoted to this position from her prior role of Manager of Consulting with Northwestern Benefit.  Prior to her management roles, Camry spent more than seven years working directly with large employers as a Health & Welfare benefit consultant, including holding a Senior Benefits Consultant position at Northwestern Benefit.  Camry has earned the Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), and the Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBC) designations.  Camry is currently a student in the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) program offered through the Wharton School.  She is a board member of the local CEBS chapter serving as Program Director for 2012 and 2013.

Jon Neff is Chief Financial Officer and one of the original founders of Hire Dynamics, a staffing company operating out of ten branch offices and 16 on-sites in the Southeast, delivering workforce solutions to its clients. Hire Dynamics is the second largest staffing firm in Atlanta and has been voted top 5 Best Staffing Firms To Work For In The U.S. (out of 10,000) for four years in a row, ranked third Best Places To Work In Atlanta in 2013 and selected as one of the Coolest Companies To Work For In Atlanta.  Other accolades include Inavero’s 2013 Best of Staffing Award for client and talent loyalty, ranking in the top 1% in the industry. Neff spent eight years with KPMG as a senior manager within the assurance practice, primarily working with public and private companies in the high-tech industry. He spent two years at KPMG’s office in London. He is a CPA, a member of both the AICPA and Georgia Society of CPA’s, and a certified staffing professional, CSP. Neff graduated summa cum laude from Millsaps College, served on the board of the Atlanta Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) and is an active board member of the Georgia Chamber and its Health and Wellness Committee. He has an Executive MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. 

Jay Savan is a Mercer Partner based in our Atlanta office.  As a senior consultant in our Health and Benefits consulting practice, he focuses on advising large clients on the design, financing, administration and communication of their employee health and benefit plans. Prior to recently joining Mercer, Jay was a senior leader with another major consultancy for 11 years. During 26 years of experience in human resource, finance and employee benefits consulting, Jay has assisted several major public and private employers in maximizing the return on their investment in people through innovative employee benefits strategies. A recognized authority on health care consumerism and account-based health care models, Jay has assisted numerous clients in designing, implementing and evaluating these programs. Jay holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Missouri-St Louis and an M.B.A. in Finance from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
