Professional Network Leader

Professional Network Leader

Similar to an employee resource group leader, this volunteer leads a professional network focused on executive-level HR professionals. Responsibilities include helping members maximize their sense of connection and engagement with the group, serving as the primary contact for staff, and contributing to the educational goals of the group and SHRM-Atlanta. Benefits include growing your professional connections and learning about the latest trends and innovations related to the group’s focus.

Term: Annual; Approximately 1 hour per month

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist in connecting with relevant community partners that can help in building content or providing experts and/or resources
Help to create and promote programs/projects/initiatives through network sharing (i.e., personal referrals, social media activity, suggested opportunities to new members, etc.).
Monitor, promote, and create new threads for ongoing discussion and sharing in the online forum (SHRM-Atlanta Connect).
Recruit and promote educational tools and resources for the SHRM-Atlanta library (general and in Connect)
Coordinate group activities such as networking events, online learning programs, and social gatherings (stand-alone or as part of larger conferences/events)

Events Committee

This committee helps ensure SHRM-Atlanta provides an array of engaging learning experiences for members through the organization’s annual conference and other educational programs. The committee identifies topics and skill development needs within the HR community, develops new and enhances existing educational formats, and supports speaker selection. Through a balance of strategic and operational aspects of this role, committee members will be able to grow professional connections, enhance their learning and development skills, contribute to the educational advancement of peers, and gain insight into the latest trends and innovations through proposed content. supports, engages, and motivates the SHRM-Atlanta volunteer teams in ways that encourage learning, enhance the volunteering experience, and facilitate goal fulfillment. Drawing from HR experience, this team implements processes and provides resources which fortify success through the lifecycle of volunteering.

Term: Annual; Approximately 4–6 hours per month

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Work with staff to define content needs for SOAHR as well as SHRM-Atlanta’s other multi-topic events based on industry trends and member data
Assist in connecting the team with relevant community partners that can help in building content or providing experts and/or resources
Recruit session proposals, fill content gaps, and support final speaker selection
Develop and implement engagement opportunities such as service learning, roundtable dialogues, case study sessions, micro learning initiatives, or structured networking during the event
Participate in board meetings, committees, and special projects as needed

Skills & Requirements:

Experience in talent acquisition or learning and development desired

Volunteer Development Committee

Term: Annual; Approximately 3-4 hours per month

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Create and implement volunteer recruitment strategy
Assist with creation and delivery of interviewing, onboarding, training, and offboarding processes
Contribute to an online volunteer resource library
Develop volunteer engagement strategy to keep teams active/committed, including a plan for regular feedback
Manage volunteer recognition and awards opportunities
Create sustainable volunteer-focused networking and social programs

Member Engagement Committee

Term: Annual; Approximately 2-3 hours per month

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist in connecting the team with relevant community partners, members-only content, and/or resources that further their reason for joining
Promote programs/projects/initiatives through network sharing (i.e., personal referrals, social media activity, suggested opportunities to members, etc.)
Become familiar with, and stay up to date on, the multitude of resources SHRM-Atlanta offers in order to effectively support members with their needs
Be present and engaging at in-person events throughout the year (Annual Conference, Chapter Meetings, etc.)
Reach out to members, as assigned, to help them navigate the organization and build relationships
Assist with identifying, and solving, barriers to membership and engagement
Chair-specific responsibilities:
- Determine and manage subcommittees as necessary
- Keep committee appraised of any updates that effects the committee’s scope
- Maintain a positive working relationship with staff liaison

A willingness to learn about all things SHRM-Atlanta and then take this knowledge and communicate it effectively to members who want to know more

Mentoring Committee

Term: Annual; Approximately 1 hour per month

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Create and implement a mentor recruitment strategy
In partnership with staff liaison, manage the execution of Mentoring Program cohorts and Mentor Power Hours (Q&A-style webinars)
Develop strategies to keep Mentoring Program participants active/committed and deepen their involvement in SHRM-Atlanta
Promote programs/projects/initiatives through network sharing, personal referrals, social media activity, etc.
Attend live virtual programs and in-person celebration or networking events

Student Relations Committee

Term: Annual; Approximately 1 - 2 hours per month

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Attend Committee meetings with regularity and actively participate in discussions

Contribute to brainstorming sessions with creative ideas for team projects and outcomes

Assist in connecting the team with relevant community partners that can help in building content or providing experts and/or resources that would be beneficial for students and engage them within the SHRM-Atlanta community.

Promote programs/projects/initiatives through network sharing (i.e., personal referrals, social media activity, suggested opportunities to student members, etc.).

Collaborate with committee to ensure that the team is supportive of active Student Chapters to sustain student enthusiasm and inspire engagement, and act as a source of information to recruit other schools to become Student chapters.

Stay informed of the activities of SHRM-Atlanta and active Student Chapter Affairs

Create a welcoming experience that focuses on the student member and the benefits of being engaged with SHRM-Atlanta and helping with the transition from student member to professional member.
