In this course, you will:
- Learn from an expert SHRM-certified instructor who knows what it takes to pass.
- Follow a clear 13-week study plan that breaks down what to study and when.
- Use the official SHRM Certification Preparation system, including digital content, practice questions, and assessments.
- Study with a cohort of HR peers, sharing experiences, questions, and encouragement.
- Get accountability and support so you don’t fall behind or get overwhelmed.
Time Commitment
We designed this course for working professionals.
- Live sessions: One evening per week (about 6:00–9:00PM Eastern on Thursdays)
- Self-study: Plan for 3–5 hours per week outside of class for reading and practice questions

Your registration includes:
- 13 weeks of live, instructor-led virtual classes
- Recordings of those classes
- Orientation session to get comfortable with the virtual platform and SHRM Learning System
- Printed course materials shipped to your address
- Digital access to the SHRM Certification Preparation system (quizzes, flashcards, practice exams, and more)
- Weekly study guidance, supplemental resources, and homework assignments

The SHRM exam application fee is separate from the prep course fee. Discounted exam vouchers are available through SHRM-Atlanta ($470).

About the Instructor: Xavier Cugnon
Hi everybody! I’m excited to work with SHRM-Atlanta again to help new students prepare for the SHRM certification exam. Before we dive into the learning material, I’d like to share more about me and how I became your next Certification Prep Instructor.
To start, I have an extensive career in the Marine Corps aviation, manufacturing, and proposal writing, which has enriched me with many job skills. With an aptitude for Microsoft applications, experience in project management, and studies in HR, each role has been a building block to a rich background in multiple industries. I spent years being developed by talented leaders to become one. My experience in a food manufacturing plant as a Continuous Improvement Manager and Technical Trainer exposed me to the unison of Supply Chain management. My role as a Proposal Development Analyst focused on collaborating with engineering, operations, maintenance, and financial management to produce sound, competitive, and profitable bids.
I have completed a Master of Science degree in Human Resource development at Villanova University and (you’ll be pleased to know) am certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). I have taught the SHRM Certification Prep Course for nearly 10 years.
With 11 years of industry experience, I am currently the Vice President of HR at Lookout Pest Control, a private equity-backed company employing 350 employees throughout the U.S. In this role, I am working to develop an HR team and best practices that will support rapid growth and an industry-leading culture. My team executes every element of HR, including strategy, consulting, recruiting, engagement, total rewards, talent management, payroll, benefits, policy, compliance, etc.
